A VC Slider in Playback mode combines function start/stop and intensity control in one fader

A Virtual Console Slider in Playback mode acts as a combined button and fader: pulling it above zero starts the attached function while simultaneously setting its output intensity. When pulled back to zero the function stops. Playback mode ignores the function’s own fade in/out settings — fades must be performed manually by moving the slider. For fade automation combined with intensity control, use a VC Button (for fade in/out) paired with a Slider in Submaster mode instead. Submaster mode controls the intensity of every widget in the same frame simultaneously.

Examples

A playback slider for a ‘Stage wash’ scene: moving it from 0 to 100% starts the scene at full. Pulling back to 50% dims the wash. Releasing to 0 stops it.

Assessment

Why does a Slider in Playback mode ignore the function’s fade times? What is the recommended alternative when you need both fade automation and intensity adjustment?

“When the slider is in playback mode, the slider acts like a combined button and slider. You can start a function AND simultaneously control the function's intensity with the slider.”
