A Resolume composition is the top-level container for one whole performance setup

In Resolume, a composition is the top-level container for an entire performance setup. It holds the clip grid, layers, pre-programmed effects, and all other settings needed to perform. When you save or load a composition you get back a complete, ready-to-run state. This parallels a DAW project file but is designed for real-time VJ performance rather than linear recording. A new install ships with an example composition so the interface is immediately populated and usable.

Examples

Opening Resolume for the first time shows the default example composition: a grid of video clips across several layers with effects already assigned. Clicking any thumbnail begins playback immediately.

Assessment

Describe the difference between a clip, a layer, and a composition in Resolume. Given a blank Resolume install, explain what you would need to save so that a collaborator can open your full setup.

“each composition can include sets of clips, preprogrammed effects and all other settings that you need for a performance.”
