Temporary save and reload create a live restore point without permanently altering the pattern
[FUNC]+[YES] temporarily saves the current pattern state to a volatile buffer (not the +Drive). [FUNC]+[NO] reloads from that buffer. This workflow enables risk-free live experimentation: add trigs, tweak parameters, use Control All — then instantly undo all changes by reloading. If no temporary save has been done, reload returns to the last permanently saved state. The temporary save is lost when loading another project. To commit changes permanently, use SAVE TO PROJ in the PATTERN MENU. This is distinct from regular pattern save: temporary save is for in-performance undo, not for persistent storage. A common mistake: assuming [FUNC]+[YES] saves permanently — it does not.
Examples
During a live set, enter Grid Recording and add an experimental bass line. If the crowd responds poorly, hit [FUNC]+[NO] to revert. If it works, save properly with PATTERN MENU > SAVE TO PROJ.
Assessment
What is the difference between [FUNC]+[YES] (temporary save) and PATTERN MENU > SAVE TO PROJ? What happens to the temporary save buffer when you load a different project?
