Tidal d1-d9, hush, solo, and mute manage multiple simultaneous patterns live

Tidal runs multiple concurrent patterns on numbered connections d1 through d9; each dN $ ... is an independent voice. hush (or Ctrl+.) stops every pattern instantly — the key recovery move in performance. solo N mutes all but pattern N; unsolo N restores the rest. mute N silences one pattern while others continue; unmute N (or unmuteAll) brings it back. You can also pause everything by setting setcps to a negative number (in brackets) and resume with a positive one. These controls let performers add and drop layers live without stopping the engine.

Examples

d1 $ sound "bd sn"
d2 $ sound "hh*8"
solo 2 -- only d2 audible
unsolo 2 -- both again
mute 2 -- d2 silenced
hush -- everything stops

Assessment

Set up three patterns on d1/d2/d3 and practice soloing each in turn while the others keep running, then mute and unmute one without stopping the engine.

“You can stop all the running patterns with `hush` (or by pressing `Ctrl+.`).”
