Several Tidal functions like rot, whenmod, and layer throw undefined in installed Strudel 1.2.6

When porting Tidal patterns to Strudel, certain Tidal-signature functions throw undefined because they do not exist in Strudel 1.2.6. Some map to a near equivalent: rot (rotate values) to iter (rotate structure); whenmod a b f to within/every; layer [f,g] to superimpose/stack. Others have no direct Strudel name at all: ncat/timeCat weighting, spread/spread’, smash, spin, ghost, fix/unfix, ur, and chew. Knowing which functions are Tidal-only prevents runtime errors during porting; note that bite does exist in Strudel and is not Tidal-only.

Examples

— Tidal only (throws in Strudel): d1 $ rot 1 $ s “bd sn hh cp” — Nearest Strudel: s(“bd sn hh cp”).iter(1)

Assessment

Name three Tidal functions that throw undefined in Strudel and give the nearest Strudel substitute for at least one.

“Porting these verbatim to Strudel throws `undefined`: - **`rot`** (rotate values) → use Strudel `iter` (rotate structure) as the nearest.”
