Song mode arranges patterns into a linear sequence with per-row tempo and mute settings

Song mode chains patterns into an arrangement where each row specifies: which pattern to play (PTN), how many times to repeat it (ROW PLAY COUNT), how many steps to play per repeat (ROW LENGTH), tempo (ROW TEMPO), and which tracks are muted (ROW MUTE). Songs can be up to 99 rows and up to 16 songs per project. The END row determines what happens after the last row: loop the song or stop. Per-row tempo overrides all pattern and row tempos set earlier — useful for ritardando or accelerando sections. Songs are automatically saved as you build them but require the project to be saved. This contrasts with Chains (temporary, lost on power-off) — Songs are persistent arrangements.

Examples

Row 1: pattern A01, play×2, tempo=128. Row 2: pattern A02, play×4, mute tracks 3–8. Row 3: pattern A03, play×1, tempo=132 (breakdown lift). END: LOOP.

Assessment

What is the difference between Song mode and Chains for live performance? How do you prevent the song from looping at the END row?

“A song is an arrangement of patterns set up to play in sequence. Each row in the SONG mode arrangement can have separate settings for pattern, row repeat, row length, tempo, and mute.”
