Retrigs subdivide a single trig into a rapid burst of re-fires at a set rate
Retrigs multiply a trig by repeating it at a sub-step rate within its step duration. Rate can be set from 1/1 to 1/80 (e.g., 1/32 = two fires per step). An optional velocity fade (VFAD, -64 to +64) shapes the amplitude curve of the retrig burst — negative fades out, positive fades in, 0 is flat. LEN controls the total duration of the fade envelope (fraction/multiple of a step). Retrigs are only available on audio tracks (not MIDI). In Grid Recording mode, press [TRIG PARAMETERS] twice, then hold a trig and adjust. Retrig mode is also accessible as a live Trig Mode ([FUNC]+[UP]/[DOWN] → RETRIGS) where the 16 trig keys trigger the active track at different rates (trig 1 = 1/1, trig 9 = 1/16, etc.).
Examples
Set a snare on step 9 with RTRG=ON, RATE=1/16, VFAD=-40, LEN=1/4: produces a 16th-note snare roll that fades out over a quarter note. Classic drum-machine roll effect.
Assessment
How does VFAD=64 sound different from VFAD=-64 on a retrig? What parameter controls the duration of the velocity fade curve?
