Micro timing shifts individual trigs ahead of or behind the beat grid
Micro timing offsets a trig’s playback position relative to the step grid without changing its step placement. In Grid Recording mode: hold a [TRIG] key and press [LEFT] or [RIGHT] to open the micro timing popup and adjust offset. Both audio and MIDI tracks support micro timing. Settings are stored per step in the active pattern. This is how to add human-feel swing to individual hits independently of the global swing setting — e.g., slightly rushing the snare on the downbeat or dragging the hi-hat on the off-beat. The QUANTIZE menu ([FUNC]+[TRIG PARAMETERS]) can re-quantize micro-timed trigs after live recording; TRACK quantizes the active track in real time, PATTERN quantizes all tracks.
Examples
Hold step 5 (snare), press [RIGHT] twice to push it 10ms late for a lazy backbeat feel. Hold the hi-hat trig on step 3, press [LEFT] once to rush it for urgency.
Assessment
Explain the difference between micro timing and the global swing setting. How do you apply micro timing in Grid Recording mode?
