The XY Pad widget controls moving head pan/tilt with mouse, keyboard, or external controller and supports presets

The XY Pad controls pan and tilt channels of multiple intelligent fixtures simultaneously. Each fixture has per-axis min/max range and reversal, allowing a 540° and a 360° pan fixture to track identically. Three usage modes: Absolute positioning, EFX recall (pad controls EFX position/size), and Relative-to-Scene (offsets pan/tilt from a running scene’s values). Presets create buttons for saved positions, EFX functions, Scenes, or Fixture Group subsets. Keyboard arrow keys control coarse/fine channels with Shift and Ctrl modifiers.

Examples

Two fixtures with different pan ranges follow the same pad handle because each has its range independently scaled. A position preset recalls a specific pan/tilt absolute position.

Assessment

Describe the difference between XY Pad ‘Absolute’ and ‘Relative to Scene’ modes. When would you use range sliders (working window) versus per-fixture range limits?

“The XY Pad is basically a map of the whole range of degrees that the pan and tilt channels of your fixtures can manage.”
