The Buchla 225e/206e preset manager stores up to 30 named system states retrievable by number, pulse, or MIDI program change

The preset manager (shared between the 206e mixer and 225e MIDI decoder) coordinates system-wide snapshots. Each module with Remote Enable on stores its own parameters locally; a store command reads them all into one of 30 memory slots. Recalling a preset transmits its number to all remote-enabled modules simultaneously. Presets can be named with the data wheel; cycled with last/next buttons or pulses; or triggered by MIDI program change messages on a configurable base channel. Partial recall is achievable by toggling Remote Enable off on selected modules before recalling.

Examples

Store a preset on slot 5 during soundcheck; chain presets 1-8 via pulse inputs for live transitions; share a sequence with a collaborator via memory card.

Assessment

Walk through the complete procedure to store and name a preset, then recall it using a pulse input. Describe how to prevent one module’s settings from changing during a preset recall.

“A user can store up to 30 presets with each being retrieved by simply transmitting its number to all the modules in a system.”
