Tides frequency-multiplication output mode makes just-intonation chords at audio rate and polyrhythmic triggers at LFO rate
When Tides is in output mode 4 (frequency multiplication/division), the SHIFT/LEVEL knob adjusts the frequency ratio between each of the four outputs. At noon, all outputs are at the same frequency. Clockwise increases ratios for outputs 2, 3, 4; counter-clockwise decreases them. At audio frequencies, different outputs at integer/simple fractional ratios produce just intonation chords. At low LFO frequencies, the outputs produce polyrhythmic LFOs. Using a low SLOPE setting makes edges sharp enough to trigger other modules, enabling complex polyrhythmic clock signals from a single Tides module.
Examples
Set Tides to cyclic mode, output mode 4, audio range. SHIFT/LEVEL at clockwise creates a chord. Set to LFO range: four LFOs at different tempos. Set SLOPE low: four clock outputs in polyrhythm.
Assessment
How does Tides’ frequency multiplication output mode produce just intonation chords, and what adjustment makes the outputs suitable as polyrhythmic triggers rather than smooth LFOs?
