Driving several unrelated visual parameters from the same FFT band reads as everything-pumping-together mud — one band should map to one dominant target

Spectral coherence is not only about matching a band to an element of the right size — it is also about how many targets a single band drives. Routing one band to several unrelated parameters makes all of them rise and fall in lockstep, so the image reads as everything-pumping-together (mud) rather than as differentiated motion. The clean pattern is one band → one dominant target; distinct visual parameters should be driven by distinct bands so they move independently. This is a separate check from band-element size matching and can fail even when every individual coupling is size-appropriate.

Examples

Bass → scale AND bass → brightness AND bass → warp: all three pump on the same kick, reading as one undifferentiated throb. Split them so bass → scale, low-mid → warp, high-mid → hue and the motions separate.

Assessment

A sketch drives scale, brightness, and blend all from a.fft[0]. Explain why this reads as mud even though bass-to-large-element is individually correct, and rewrite the assignments.
