Liquid DnB and intelligent/atmospheric DnB are closely related and often confused, but differ in palette. Liquid DnB leans toward jazz, disco, soca, Latin, and funk: live-sounding instruments, real or sampled. Intelligent/atmospheric DnB creates a calmer, more synthetic sound: smooth synth lines, deep bass, and sampled textures rather than the organic warmth of real instruments. Both emphasize mood and musicality over aggression, but liquid warmth comes from organic source material while intelligent/atmospheric is more electronic and abstract.
