Gabber labels and artists explicitly organised against racism and fascism within the scene
As gabber grew in the Netherlands, a racist minority (and a small German neo-Nazi fringe following) attached itself to the scene, prompting an organised response from within. Labels and artists released explicitly anti-fascist and anti-racist statements: ‘Chosen Anthem (Against Racism)’ by DJ Chosen Few, ‘Die Nazi Scum’ by Party Animals feat. MC Rob Gee, ‘Time to Make a Stand’ by United Hardcore, and ‘Fuck the Nazism’ by Hellcore. Mokum Records printed the slogan ‘Hardcore united against fascism and racism’ on all its records. Prominent black producers such as The Dark Raver and Loftgroover were part of the scene. This active self-policing is a documented example of an electronic-music scene repudiating extremist co-option.
Examples
Mokum Records’ slogan printed on every release — ‘Hardcore united against fascism and racism’ — made the scene’s anti-fascist stance visible at every point of purchase.
