Fill mode temporarily activates FILL-conditional trigs for a pattern variation
Fill mode is a performance tool for creating temporary pattern variations like drum fills. Any trig can have a FILL condition (ON = only plays during fill, OFF = plays only outside fill). Activate Fill mode for one full pattern cycle with [YES]+[PAGE]; it becomes active at the next loop start and deactivates after one cycle. For instantaneous, duration-controlled fill: hold [PAGE] while the pattern plays (not in Grid Recording mode) — fill is active for exactly as long as [PAGE] is held. Latching: hold [PAGE]+[YES] then release [PAGE] before [YES] to latch fill on; press [PAGE] again to unlatch. This design lets a performer drop in a fill at any moment and have it last precisely as long as they hold the key, without interrupting sequencer playback.
Examples
Place alternative snare fills on steps 13–16 with FILL=ON. During performance, hold [PAGE] for exactly beats 13–16 to hear the fill. Release to return to the plain pattern on the next loop.
Assessment
A performer wants a fill to last exactly one pattern cycle and start at the next loop boundary. What key combination achieves this? What is the difference from holding [PAGE]?
